In 2022, as part of the H2 Marsch project, an alliance was launched that is dedicated to creating a hydrogen infrastructure to decarbonise industry in the Wesermarsch region. Several companies in the region are dependent on hydrogen to achieve a successful decarbonisation due to their energy-intensive activities. 

Hydrogen is playing an increasingly important role in the plans of energy-intensive companies – especially when it comes to decarbonising processes that are difficult or impossible to electrify during operation. This makes access to hydrogen a crucial factor when selecting a location. 

This is why the H2 Marsch alliance was set up in the Wesermarsch region with the target of guaranteeing a hydrogen supply for the region. Hydrogen is to be procured and supplied through regional production, hydrogen pipelines, ship imports and, last but not least, the necessary storage infrastructure. The aim is to secure the 6,000 jobs linked to this sector in the region and to reduce CO₂ emissions by 240,000 tonnes per year over the long term. 

USG-Blexen GmbH is actively involved in creating a hydrogen infrastructure in the Wesermarsch as part of the H2 Marsch alliance.
